Trailer: GEARS OF WAR 3

Not too long after we receive word that there will in fact be a Gears of War 3 sooner than many of us may have previously thought, we get a glimpse at the trailer for the game.  Granted, it’s probably way to early to get super-excited about this one, but after watching this moody, atmosphere-building trailer, it’s mighty tough not to.  Enjoy!

Sci-fi short THE GIFT leads to studio bidding war

The Gift, a sci-fi short film by commercial director Carl Erik Rinsch, has created quite a stir among Hollywood studios vying to turn it into a big-budget blockbuster.  While Warner Bros. and Fox seem to be the most prominant names mentioned, word is that on Wednesday when The Gift was released, other names were (and may continue to be) in the mix.   Some may recognize Rinsch’s name; he was at one time set to direct the Alien prequel, and is attached as the director of both 47 Ronin as well as the Creature from the Black Lagoon remake. One thing is certain, Carl Erik Rinsch is a name to watch.

New info. and viral site for Christopher Nolan’s INCEPTION

Christopher Nolan has been hard at work on his latest effort Inception, starring Leonardo DiCaprio.  Until recently we have heard little to nothing regarding what the hell this movie is about.  The trailer has offered weird glimpses of gravity defying shootouts and other physics-out-the-window imagery.  The folks over at i09 posted a story discussing extra footage and nuggets of information they picked up at WonderCon.  Apparently in the film: Continue reading

Trailer for SPLICE

Just when you thought we needed more cautionary tales warning against the combining of human and animal DNA, director Vincenzo Natali brings you Splice. The film stars Adrian Brody and is set to be released on June 4th.  I have to say this movie has got some potential.  Every image I’ve seen of the weirdo life-form they have created for the film is eerily realistic and pretty awesome.  For now check out the trailer below and enjoy!

CAPTAIN AMERICA finds a Bucky!

It looks like Sebastian Stan (Gossip Girl, Kings) will be the man suiting up to join Chris Evans in The First Avenger: Captain America as sidekick Bucky Barnes. As many of you may know Bucky Barnes is Captain America’s young sidekick who lends a hand in WWII-era Europe busting Nazi skulls.  Though I cannot say that I am familiar with Stan’s acting, he certainly looks the part.  What I’m really eager to find out is what depiction of Bucky we are going to see on the big-screen.  In the classic Marvel comic, Bucky is exactly as you see him above.  However in Marvel’s Ultimate line we meet a Bucky who is a war photographer assigned to take pictures of the Cap.  With the cues that the Marvel movies have thus far taken from the Ultimate Universe, it would be interesting to see which way they go.

Lucas OK’s STAR WARS comedy from ROBOT CHICKEN team

Spawned from the success, both with fans and critics, of the Star Wars-themed Robot Chicken episodes comes word that Lucas is giving the go-ahead for the team behind the successful Cartoon Network show to help create a new animated series.  Here’s what actor/mind behind Robot Chicken Seth Green had to say about the new show:

The Star Wars universe is so dense and rich; it’s crazy to think that there aren’t normal, mundane everyday problems in a world so well-defined. And it’s even crazier to think of what those problems might be, since it’s all set in a galaxy far, far away.  What do these characters do when they’re not overthrowing Empires?

I really don’t know what to think about this.  I think it is a very good sign that Lucas and his people are teaming with other creators who have produced some really cool stuff utilizing the Star Wars universe.  It would be lame if they just decided to do their own comedy show and pretty much rip off the jokes made by others.  I guess time will tell.  No word yet on what network the show will be on.
