Is Jim from The Office closer to becoming Captain America?

Apparently word on the street is that John Krasinski is currently the top choice to wield the red-white-and-blue shield in the Joe Johnston directed First Avenger: Captain America. According to sources Krasinski has gone through multiple screen tests and is getting pretty close to officially locking down the role.  There was also mention that he has been testing with a bunch of ladies in order to cast the female lead.

I know this seems like a weird choice, but frankly, I think he could totally pull it off.  I’d rather have the filmmakers go with a guy they think can act the part than some pretty-boy blondie who looks like a couple of the pictures drawn in the comics.  Plus he kind of has that WWII era look to him.  Also, I do not want to hear any arguments about how he doesn’t look buff enough to play the role.  Obviously, if he got the part, I’m sure he would spend some time at the gym.  Either way, as soon as we know anything, we’ll update you guys.
