SCOTT PILGRIM vs. THE WORLD trailer!

Based on the beloved graphic novel, if you haven’t checked out what it’s all about the trailer pretty much fills you in.  Scott’s in love, but there’s one minor problem; before he can be with his new lady he must first battle and defeat her seven evil ex’s.  This one looks like a lot of fun, like a real-life anime/video game/manga.  It comes your way from director Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz), check it out.

First Spiderman: Shattered Dimensions details emerge

Last week, a leaked GamePro cover was released with a blurb for yet to be announced Spiderman game called Shattered Dimensions. While the issue won’t hit stands until early next month, we’re starting to hear the first details on the game.

Reportedly, the game will feature everyone’s favorite wall crawler in different locations, rather than just New York as in previous games. The game is said to feature a brand new location never before seen in a Spiderman game and at least two new villains. The game’s script will be written by famed comic writer Dan Slott with Beenox studios handling the development duties.

Perhaps the most interesting piece of information, as revealed by IGN is that actor Christopher Daniels Barnes who voiced Spiderman in the 90s cartoon series is scheduled to be at the Wondercon panel where the game will be unveiled.

Something I found.

Not going to lie, this made me laugh out loud.  I think this was kind of the same reaction a lot of us had the first time we saw the whole trilogy.  Enjoy!

Chris Evans is CAPTAIN AMERICA!

It has been a long and winding road that has (according to heat vision) lead us to the man who will be wielding the shield in The First Avenger: Captain America, Johnny Storm- I mean, Chris Evans.  Joking aside, it’s kind of weird to have a guy play two heroes from the same comic book universe (Evans also played the Human Torch in the Fantastic Four films, and this choice does not come without apprehension.  Captain America is the big daddy of the Marvel Universe, and some will undoubtedly wonder if Evans has what it takes to lead the likes of Iron Man, Thor, and the rest of The Avengers into battle.  I have to say however that I’ve seen a great actor in Chris Evans, and I’ve been waiting for that role that propels him into super-stardom.  We’ll have to wait and see if Captain America is that role.

Accused Counter Strike cheater gets knifed…in the head.

And you thought your friends were harsh…

An argument over a supposed wall-hack at a Chinese net-cafe game of Counter-Strike led to one player being stabbed in the head by an angry competitor.  Reportedly a fight broke out after one team lost due to the supposed hack which resulted in the “cheater” being stabbed.

After being stabbed by the rusty blade, the surprisingly still conscious 17-year old was rushed to the hospital where the knife was removed. He’s still being evaluated but the doctors who operated on him say survival is quite slim.

Kotaku has the actual image of the kid with the knife in his head if you’re into that kind of thing but fair warning — it’s pretty gruesome.

Preview of Millar & McNiven’s NEMESIS

Some of you faithful visitors may remember quite a while back when we reported on the Mark Millar penned and Steve McNiven drawn book Nemesis, set to make its way into comic shops.  Nemesis asks, “What if Bruce Wayne had become evil?”  Seemingly you would get this guy, a crazy killing machine with mad skills and a taste for destruction.  Well as the release of issue one approaches (this Wednesday March 24th) we noticed a nifty little preview of the first bunch of pages.  This preview is presented without any dialog, but hey, it still seems pretty awesome.  Undoubtedly, with the success of the upcoming film adaptation of Kick-Ass, and previous success of Millar’s Wanted, Hollywood will be keeping a close eye on this one, and we will too.

Warner Bros. to adapt BLEACH

I will come right out and say that one area of my GEEKSPERTISE that is lacking is in the realm of Japanese anime and manga.  With that being said, the cartoon version of Bleach is one that I have checked out, and it was pretty awesome.  With Warner Bros. already working on bringing anime classic Akira to the big-screen, we now hear that Bleach is not far behind.  Here’s a brief rundown of the story via Wikipedia:

Bleach follows the adventures of Ichigo Kurosaki after he accidentally obtains the power of a Soul Reaper—a Japanese death personification similar to the Grim Reaper. Gaining these abilities forces him to take on the duties of defending humans from evil spirits and guiding departed souls to the afterlife.

So how does that sound to any Bleach fans out there?  Good news?  Bad news?  Let us know.

Chris Evans as Cap?

Hey, I know this is usually Zac’s territory, but I figured i’d make mention of it… Marvelous News just posted not too long ago that Marvel has offered Chris Evans of Fantastic Four fame the role of Captain America. I don’t know how reliable it is, but one of the comments mentions that he’s turned the roll down, claiming this was confirmed through Facebook and a family member.

I’m not sure how much I like Chris Evans in the roll of Captain America – My opinion of him has been largely poisoned by his portrayal of Johnny Storm.  Granted, Johnny Storm is generally supposed to be a cocky asshole, he still annoyed the crap out of me.

I would have been interested to see if John Krasinski could have done it.

PREDATORS trailer!

We got the sneak peek a couple of days ago and now we are presented with the first official trailer for Predators. This movie makes me giddy and I feel like I really don’t have to say anything more.  Watch this trailer and enjoy.  Seriously, it gave me chills.
